FAQ's

Are wetsuits permitted?
Yes, but are not required.

What is the temperature of the lake?
2004 - 72°
2005 - 69°
2006 - 68°
2007 - 74° - WOW!

Is the ph of the water tested?
No. The lake is spring-fed and filled 4 weeks prior to race.

What time is the lake open on race day?
Gates to the lake open at 7:45am.

Do you have a map of the course?
Yes. See the Race Info page for a bike and run map.

Is the swim a mass start?
No. The swim is a wave start. Waves are determined by the timing company. Usually 50 participants in each wave.

What is the minimum age?
We are always excited about young people taking the challenge so please contact Director Chris Kaag to inquire about granting permission for your young one to compete.

Where are results / pictures posted?
Times will be posted at www.score-this.com and pictures at www.fotojack.com

How can I become a corporate sponsor?
There are many levels of corporate sponsorship. See the Sponsorship page. We are also open to other creative ideas you or your company might have. Contact Director Chris Kaag for more information. He'll be happy to help you out!

Are teams permitted?
Yes. 3-person teams are permitted, with 1 person completing each leg. Mixed-gender teams are fine as well.

Can I have a 2-person team?
No. All teams must have 3 people.

How can I volunteer?
GTN would not be able to function without the efforts of our volunteers. There are many, many areas that need to be covered. See the Volunteer page for more information.

Do you have anyone looking for a teammate?
Submit your name and need to the Director , and we'll let you know if we have someone who is also interested in putting a team together.

What do you do with inclement weather?
Race will proceed rain or shine, but the race director will determine if weather is severe.

Can I pick up my friend / family member race packet on packet pick-up day?
Yes, but you will need a signed photocopy of their license with their request to p/u.

How can I substitute a participant for someone who cannot make it?
Contact Director Chris Kaag. You will need to have the replacement complete a waiver and info sheet and mail along with a $25 transfer fee payable to Got the Nerve .
