1988 to Present Day
I started working with my family business at the Moccasin Run Golf Club as Club Manager. I also had the opportunity to continue with my athletic (Wheelchair Racing) career, with competitions in local races and national races across the USA. I became a PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) ski instructor in 1994 and teach at various clinics in the East as well as Western Ski areas. I teach with the Baltimore Adaptive Recreation and Sports organization at Roundtop Mountain, Lewisberry Pa.
Giving opportunities to people affected with disability to participate and compete in sports is important. Given that opportunity and seeing what it did for me in my life; from the opportunities and challenges I have faced and taken on; it made me realize how important it is that we pass it on to others.
Starting April 1, 2008, I accepted employment at Joni and Friends Eastern Pa. area office, as Community Relations Coordinator. Joni and Friends is a ministry that serves families and individuals affected with disabilities. We strive to meet the practical and spiritual needs of people with disability and connect them with a church in their community.
December 13 of 2008 I married Sharyn Brautigan from San Antonio Texas who also is employed with Joni and Friends and through our work is how our relationship started. I speak publicly promoting wheelchair sports and disability awareness nationally and in surrounding communities. My Church is Maple Grove Mennonite, where I serve as Director of the Finance Committee I am a member of the Worship Committee, and Summer Bible School Program. I still participate in wheelchair sports competitions, also teaching and training athletes in Track, Road Racing and Snow Skiing. My hobbies and other interests are Traveling, Scuba Diving, Skiing, Racing and Photography.
